Pop-ups

This section contains all the pop-ups you have. You can view them by activity status. Active - these are the pop-ups that are currently being shown to users. Inactive are the ones you have created but are not yet using, or have used before. Drafts are mostly needed for test pop-ups, for example, for design experiments. Split-tests - pop-ups with testing in any status other than draft.

You can read the nuances of setting up successful conversion pop-ups on the example of one of ours clients.

This tab allows you to activate/deactivate, copy, edit or delete a pop-up.

Creating a pop-up (visual part)

By clicking on the create window button you are taken to the wizard for setting up the pop-up.

At the first step you need to specify the name of the pop-up and select its type. Gathering pop-ups are used for lead generation, they contain a form for capturing user's email or phone number. Informative ─ will allow you to tell the latest news, inform about new products, promotions, favourable delivery conditions or simply wish you a good day. They do not contain a form for capturing an email.

Pop-ups with a ready-made template

Next, select a pop-up template. Templates are filtered by location type. Here you can also choose from previously created or downloaded templates.

On the “Appearance” step, customise the main template text and buttons, and specify (in case of a collecting pop-up) what action should happen after the user leaves their data in the window - closing the window, clicking a link or showing a thank you page.

You can set up an additional pop-up that will thank your subscriber and point them in the right direction. For example, it will prompt them to check their email and find a confirmation email. This “thank you page” will be in the same style as the main window.

Additionally, you will need to customise it:

At the same step you can see how the pop-up will look like on your computer screen or mobile device.

You can select a maximum of one field type for each of the templates with data fields:

Customisable pop-ups

In addition to using ready-made designs, you can customise the template to suit you. Customisable templates are available in the “Customisable” section after selecting the pop-up type. We now have three customisable collecting templates (two standard and wheel of fortune) and one standard customisable informing pop-up.

The difference between a customisable pop-up and a pop-up with a ready-made design is that for the customisable one you can set:

Only for customisable buildable pop-ups you can additionally set the following options hidden fields.

These can be used to identify all contacts signed from a specific pop-up or a specific split test version. In the process, the contacts can be segmented according to the values recorded in these fields.

The principle of their operation is as follows:

Otherwise, the configuration of such a window is the same as the usual ones. You can choose this option to create a pop-up for your site and design system.

After customising the pop-up view, proceed to the next step.

Creating a pop-up (display settings)

At the “Display settings” step, specify the following:

The final step is to set the conditions for showing the pop-up. Here you can select segments, to which the window will be shown, as well as assign the pop-up to them mailing groups, to which you want the user to subscribe.

Click on the “Activate” button to start the window display, or select “Save as Draft” to return to it later.

Emails entered in pop-ups are validated. Validation will prevent the user from entering an invalid email address into the pop-up

Pop-up display conditions

The final step is to customize the conditions for showing the pop-up. Here you can select segments to which the pop-up window will be shown, as well as assign the pop-up to mailing groups to which the user should subscribe.

Commonly used segments

Click on the “Activate” button to start the pop-up display, or select “Save as Draft” to come back to it later.

Emails entered into pop-ups are validated. Validation will prevent a user from entering an invalid e-mail address into a pop-up.

Split test

When setting up pop-ups, you can run a split test and determine which version of design, content, location brings in more conversions.

The way you measure conversions depends on the type of pop-up:

To set up a split test, you need to click on the corresponding button on the first or second step of window creation.

You will have the opportunity to select “window B”, for which the template, actions and content are similarly customised. In the “Actions” and “Window Editor” step, all the steps are similar to setting up a regular popup. And then an additional step is added - “Split Test”.

On the “Split Test” step you need to choose the test period (from 1 to 40 days) and what will happen after the test is over: whether to automatically show the winning version of the window or not.

Prevent pop-up windows from showing when switching from an email message

In order to disable the display of pop-ups for customers who accessed the site from an email message, you need to add the URL parameter eksubsemail to the links in the email, in the value of which pass the recipient's email using the personalisation tag {{user_guide:pop-up:subscriber_email}}.
