Mailing groups
This is a common entity for all enKod services. Mailing groups are tokens that are assigned to a contact and indicate permission to send them messages.
Mailing groups are available in the enKod menu tab. On this page you can find existing mailing groups or create a new one. The columns to the right of the group name show the date of its creation, system name and the channel used for communication with contacts from this group (email or SMS, according to the principle: a separate mailing group for 1 communication channel).
In the “Actions” column in the list of mailing groups you can edit, create a copy or delete the group.
If you click on the name of a mailing group, information about it will be displayed: number of subscribers and communication channel.
- Total subscribers - the sum of confirmed subscribers and those who subscribed before the DOI email was added to the mailing group
- Unconfirmed - contacts who have received a DOI email but have not clicked on the confirmation link in it
From the mailing group details, you can go to the segment where the condition for the selected group will be automatically substituted. This will allow you to view the list of contacts.
When a mailing group is deleted, all contacts that were subscribed to it will unsubscribe from this group. In this case, if the contacts that were unsubscribed when deleting a mailing group are added to the platform via import with the subscription parameter “Except for those who unsubscribed from all mailing groups”, this unsubscription event will not be taken into account when deleting the group.
Creating a mailing group
When creating a new or editing an existing mailing group, you need to specify its name, system name in Latin and description. Important: the group name will be visible to the subscriber when subscribing to the mailing list (if the DOI method is used in the mailing list). {{user_guide:subscriptions:group_names}}).
In the “Comment” field you can leave short notes about the note for yourself or colleagues. This field will not be displayed to users. The next step is to select a communication channel for this group of mailings.
The mailing group can be with or without Double Opt-in confirmation email. When creating a mailing group, you can immediately bind a confirmation letter to it (choose from the list of previously created DOI letters) or create and bind this letter later by selecting the “DOI Subscription Confirmation” sending method in the message creation wizard and specifying the required GR.
If you delete the confirmation email, the mailing group to which it was bound will become Single Opt-In (without confirmation).
If you import contacts with a Double Opt-in mailing group, a confirmation email will be sent to all imported contacts immediately after the import is complete. If you do not need to send a confirmation email, you can disable it for the duration of the import or initially create a group without confirmation by adding an email after importing contacts.
Subscribing and unsubscribing contacts in a segment
Segmented contacts can be subscribed and unsubscribed from mailing groups.
You can select one of the contact's subscription rules via the segment:
• everyone, including the unsubscribers;
• except for those who have unsubscribed from the selected mailing group;
• except for those who have unsubscribed from all mailing groups.
When subscribing from a segment to a mailing group with a DOI, a confirmation email will be sent to the contacts
Unsubscribing contacts from a segment can be:
- from all mailing groups they are subscribed to
- from specific mailing groups that you select
Each time you can customize the option that is most convenient for you.
The email can be sent only to those contacts who are subscribed to at least one mailing group
If a contact is not subscribed to any mailing group, he/she will be included in the “Not sent” statistic with the reason “Not subscribed to any mailing group”.
Automatically unsubscribe contacts from a mailing group
A contact is automatically unsubscribed from all mailing groups after three soft bounces (recipient's mailbox is full, no response from the server, etc.) in a row.
