Why tags are needed

Tags can be attached to posts, segments, and contacts. In the case of posts and segments, tags can help you group entities with the same subject matter, making it easier to find things in lists.

Tags for contacts are basically intended as a kind of marker that allows you to segment contacts by time parameters. The task itself with segmentation by contact tags is currently under development, but you can attach tags now.

Tag manager

A tag is a common entity for messages, contacts and segments. The same tag can be attached to both messages and segments.

In the enKodTags you can view and edit all tags created in the account. You can add a description to tags in this section. Deleting a tag will unlink it from all entities (posts, segments, contacts) to which it is attached. Changing the tag will change it for all entities to which it is attached.

When creating tags, please note the following rules:

  • space, single and double quotes, slashes, commas, special characters are not allowed in the tag name (these characters will be ignored when creating such a tag, so use underscores to create a tag of several words).
  • tag length is not limited
  • tags are case-sensitive (“tag” and “tag” are two different tags)

Contact Tags

There are a total of two ways to change contact tags:

  • through the contact card
  • when importing contacts

When attaching a tag via import, pay attention to the post collation setting, which specifies what should be done with new and existing contacts:

  • update - the tags selected when creating the import will be added to existing contacts
  • replace - the selected tags will replace the already existing tags of the contacts
  • ignore - the selected tags will not be attached to contacts

In the import history you can see the tags that were attached to contacts.

In the future, contact tags will be used for segmentation by tags - this functionality is currently under development.
