Tags can be attached to posts, segments, and contacts. In the case of posts and segments, tags can help you group entities with the same subject matter, making it easier to find things in lists.
Tags for contacts are basically intended as a kind of marker that allows you to segment contacts by time parameters.
A tag is a common entity for messages, contacts and segments. The same tag can be attached to both messages and segments.
In the Data ➔ Tags you can view and edit all tags created in the account. You can add a description to tags in this section. Deleting a tag will unlink it from all entities (posts, segments, contacts) to which it is attached. Changing the tag will change it for all entities to which it is attached.
When creating tags, please note the following rules:
There are a total of two ways to change contact tags:
When attaching a tag via import, pay attention to the post collation setting, which specifies what should be done with new and existing contacts:
In the import history you can see the tags that were attached to contacts.
When pinning/unpinning a tag through segmentation, you must first recalculate the contacts in the segment, then go to Actions ➔ Pin tags to contacts / Unpin tags from contacts ➔ Save. Changing the tags of a large number of contacts occurs in the background and can take time.
It is impossible to unpin or pin a unique “Bot” tag to contacts. For more information about assigning the “Bot” tag, read this section of the knowledge base.
Contact tags are used for segmentation by tags:
Contacts can be segmented based on whether they have tags or not. For example, when importing, you can pin the tag “Import 01.03” to contacts, and then select as a segment all contacts with this tag.
